Seasonally open from early-May to late-June it is impossible to do this beautiful Okinawa hydrangea garden justice with pictures. The best way to describe it is a quiet meander through each terraced level of blooming flowers.
The hydrangea garden boasts nearly 300,000 hydrangeas blooming along a hillside accented by an assortment of other brightly-colored complementary blooming varieties.
The parking lot is gravel but has plenty of space. After getting your ticket, you can start meandering through the gardens.
The paths through the gardens are mapped out with routes so everyone is going through the same way and you don’t have to worry about people passing on the narrow paths.
Following these paths gives you an all-angle view of the beautiful space. Go slow, take your time, take pictures, and enjoy the view.
At the end you’ll be back to the little cafe where they sell snacks and shaved ice (250 yen). Relax inside the little cafe and enjoy the view of the hillside filled with flowers.

What to Expect
Update as of June 24, 2022 – Open still but the blooms are starting to fade. Check their Google page to make sure they are open before visiting.
This outdoor adventure has a lot of uphill walking from the parking lot to the top-most part of the gardens, and then back down again.
Paths are clear and railings are easily accessible – but in places can be narrow and steep. Stairs are stone and may be uneven heights at different parts.
Would not recommend bringing a stroller.
There are bathrooms on site near the little cafe.
Consider arriving a little before 5P when the sun has dipped behind the hillside. This gives you plenty of time to wander the gardens before closing (6P) and avoid the heat of the day.

Photography Ideas
Incredibly breathtaking, it’s nearly impossible to take a “bad” picture here. Consider taking pictures close-up of the blooms, and farther away of the landscape with the Nago mountains in the distance.
